Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a ban on single-use plastic items from 2nd October 2019 recently. He launched Swachhta Hi Seva 3.0 campaign - Say No To Plastic. Following this ban, 6 plastic items will be banned for use on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.
Plastic waste management is one of the most difficult issues the nation is facing. This waste is not biodegradable and this further leads to the pollution that further leads to global warming.
6 Single-Use Plastic Ban on the following items:
- Plastic bags
- Plastic plates
- Plastic straws
- Small plastic bottles
- Plastic cups
- Some types of sachets
So, recently Bollywood made its first step towards banning plastic. Plastic has been banned on the sets of Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan's next Coolie no. 1. Varun Dhawan recently took to his Twitter handle and shared a picture of the cast and crew holding steel bottles.
He captioned the picture, "Being a plastic-free nation is the need of the hour and great initiative taken by our prime minister and we can all do this by making small changes. The sets of #CoolieNo1 will now only use steel bottles. @PMOIndia."
Prime Minister Modi is all praises for this initiative taken by the team. He responded to Varun Dhawan's tweet, "Superb gesture by the team of #CoolieNo1! Happy to see the film world contributing towards freeing India from single use plastic."
On PM Modi's response, Varun wrote:
धन्यवाद प्रधानमंत्री जी.साफ सफाई की शुरुआत घर की सबसे पहली शिक्षा होती है और मेरा यह मानना है कि जिस तरह से स्वच्छ भारत अभियान की शुरुआत आपने की है उसमें हरेक भारतीय को अपना योगदान देना चाहिए. स्वच्छता के हिसाब से भारत को नंबर 1 बनाना हमारा संकल्प है. https://t.co/rz69ZukGwT
