The world is witnessing and supporting the ISRO team that worked day and night for this mission for the Chandrayaan 3 mission. With the success of its third lunar mssion India hoped to become the fourth country in the world to land on the moon's surface and the first to land near the lunar south pole.
Our hearts broke when the chairman Isro chairman K Sivan broke down because we may not be in his shoes, but we all know and felt when the landing failed. Here are some reactions we picked up from Twitter.
Before we dive into the tweets this is what Modi said:"There are ups and downs in life ... What you have accomplished is no small achievement," Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"If historians some day write about today's incident, they will certainly say that inspired by our romantic description of the moon throughout life, Chandrayaan, in the last leg of the journey, rushed to embrace the moon," he said.
Modi said that though India "came very close" it needs to "cover more ground" in the times to come. "I can proudly say that the effort was worth it and so was the journey."
Taking to the micro blogging website, President of India Ramnath Kovind wrote: "
With #Chandrayaan2 Mission, the entire team of ISRO has shown exemplary commitment and courage. The country is proud of @ISRO. We all hope for the best #PresidentKovind

Besides Modi, here is what Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi tweeted:
Congratulations to the team at #ISRO for their incredible work on the Chandrayaan 2 Moon Mission. Your passion & dedication is an inspiration to every Indian. Your work is not in vain. It has laid the foundation for many more path breaking & ambitious Indian space missions. 🇮🇳

Proud of each and everyone on the #ISRO team. Setbacks are a part of the journey; without them, there is no success. The whole nation stands with you and believes in you.

Virat Kholi too took to twitter.
There's nothing like failure in science, we experiment & we gain. Massive respect for the scientists at #ISRO who worked relentlessly over days & nights. The nation is proud of you, Jai Hind! 🇮🇳 #Chandrayan2

B-town too took to twitter to support ISRO team.
Amitabh Bachchan took to twitter and shared that "Even this failure is a foundation of new beginnings. Moon is 3,84,400 kms and we failed at 2.1 KM that's 0.0005463% of margin. Even this failure is a foundation for new beginnings. Even this failure has a taste of success in it.
Kudos to our Scientists and ISRO 🇮🇳 "
Shah Rukh Khan shared that: "Sometimes we don’t land or arrive at the destination we want to. The important thing is we took off and had the Hope and Belief we can. Our current situation is never and not our final destination. That always comes in time and belief! Proud of #ISRO".
Taapsee Pannu, who was last seen in 'Mission Mangal' starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Kulhari, Nitya Menen and Sharman Joshi among others wrote: "Lump in the throat, tear in the eye not coz of anything else but witnessing how beautifully you got the entire nation together in hope and spirit... it’s ok to take a few steps back when u know you are about to make your longest jump. You are our hero @isro".
Rajamouli SS said that "Obstacles are a part of every journey that aims to achieve something phenomenal! I join the entire nation in applauding the great work done by the scientists of #ISRO in taking us a step closer to the moon. You‘ve won our hearts! Kudos to your efforts".
Akshay Kumar, who has been a part of many films which hail the moves and missions India takes up shared that "There’s no science without experiment...sometimes we succeed, sometimes we learn. Salute to the brilliant minds of @isro, we are proud and confident #Chandrayaan2 will make way for #Chandrayaan3 soon. We will rise again."
It is not just Indians who hailed the scientists, foreign media too went all out. Even some Pakistanis had some very positive words to say. Here we go:

The New York Times lauded India's "engineering prowess and decades of space development have combined with its global ambitions."
French daily Le Monde mentioned the success rate of soft landing on the moon. It said, "So far, scientists point out, only 45 percent of missions aimed at alleviating have been successful." The paper started its article with words "A broken dream" and said that the Indian newspapers "were quick to titrate their websites, after announcing the worse scenario that could expect the Indian Space Research Organization."
The website quoted an expert from Nasa who had said, "Imagine a spaceship crossing the space at a speed ten times faster than an airplane, and almost stopping to land softly on the Earth - all in minutes and, more importantly, without any human intervention."
"The ship Chandrayaan-2 will have known a hard destiny," the website also mentioned the first attempt to liftoff Chandrayaan-2 on July 15, the plan which was aborted after Isro cited a "technical snag" as the reason to stop the countdown just 56 minutes before the take off.
The Washington Post wrote, 'India loses contact with its lander as it attempted to land on the moon' as its header. "The incident could now set back India's growing space ambitions, seen as a reflection of the aspirations of its young population. Of the 38 soft-landing attempts made on the moon, only about half have succeeded... India had hoped its Chandrayaan-2 mission would make it the fourth nation to land on the moon after the United States, Russia and China."
British newspaper The Guardian, wrote: India's moon landing suffers last-minute communications loss, quoted Mathieu Weiss, a representative in India for France's space agency CNES, as saying, "India is going where probably the future settlements of humans will be in 20 years, in 50 years, 100 years."
