Psychologist Sneha Dev said, "Bipolar disorder is a mental illness which is marked by extreme mood shift. The person goes through an exaggerated form of mood. For instance, if a person is happy, there is no limit to his happiness. On the other hand, if the person is sad then he feels there is nothing left for him to do and it leads to a feeling of emptiness."
Talking about the symptoms, she said, "The elevated mood swings of a person suffering from bipolar disorder can lead to issues in their day to day life. It comes in between their work, daily life, and even causes difficulty in maintaining relationships. These episodes can last for 2-3 weeks or 2-3 months and even 6 months in some cases."
Psychologist Sneha Dev shared, "Bipolar disorder does not have any cure. It is a disease with no treatment. It is difficult for the person suffering from this mental illness to understand the initial symptoms but not paying them attention can further lead to problems. Even though there is no treatment, you must stay in touch with a psychiatrist and get regular checkups done."
"Whenever you start to feel things that don't seem right, you must consult your doctor and update them everyday. If not taken seriously, this can lead to manic depressive disorder," she added.
