Rapido Driver Allegedly Harasses Delhi Woman
A Rapido driver in Delhi has been accused of harassing a woman after a ride. Sharing her ordeal on Reddit, the woman claimed that the driver called her ‘dozens of times’ and messaged her on WhatsApp following the trip.
She recalled that the driver began asking her personal questions while she was paying for the ride. "After dropping me at my location, he started asking personal questions as I was making the payment," she wrote.
Not thinking much of it, she engaged in small talk, but then the driver remarked, "Aap itne young aur sundar ho, fir mangetar kyu?" (You're so young and beautiful, why are you engaged?).
Feeling uncomfortable, she nervously laughed it off and replied, "Thank you, bhaiya," but the driver insisted, "Please bhaiya mat bolo, aur ho sake to apne socials share kar do" (Don't call me bhaiya, and if possible, share your social media). Sensing the awkwardness, the woman quickly made an excuse about not using social media and left.
However, the harassment didn't stop there. The next day, she claimed that the driver repeatedly called her and sent WhatsApp messages, violating her privacy. She also posted a screenshot of the messages, stating, "Today, this guy called me dozens of times and even texted me like it's okay to breach my privacy."

As per the screenshot, the driver sent three messages. The first two were simple greetings: “Hello” and “Ji”. When the woman didn’t respond, he followed up about an hour later with: “Pehchana nahi kya aap ne?” (Didn’t you recognise me?).
Following the incident, she lodged a formal complaint with Rapido’s customer support. In response, Rapido assured her that they had investigated the matter and permanently banned the driver from thei platform.
Reactions To The Incident
The incident has ignited widespread concern over women’s safety in public spaces, with many urging ride-hailing platforms to implement stricter background checks and safety measures.

One user expressed relief, commenting, "Glad to hear you're safe and that action was taken against him." Another advised caution, writing, "Hope you're safe and sound. Always inform your loved ones and share your live location before starting a ride. Avoid bike taxis if possible, as they can be unsafe, I’ve noticed drivers running signals and not checking roads properly. Opt for shared autos or cabs when you can, or rely on public transport. Kudos to Rapido for taking strict action."
One user advised her to opt for Ola or Uber instead of Rapido, pointing out a key privacy concern. They wrote, "In Rapido, when you call your driver or when the driver calls you, they get access to your personal number. Whereas in Uber or Ola, calls are routed through the company’s system, so drivers can’t see your number."
