Post-conclusion of the Delhi assembly campaign on Monday, all eyes are now on the voting day, which will be held on February 5, 2025. The election is taking place to elect members for the 70-member assembly. Results for the same will be announced on February 8. This year’s Delhi Assembly elections are going to be a three-cornered battle between three major parties including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress. Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP secured the winning spot in the last two elections in 2015 and 2020. Before AAP’s dominance, Congress held power in the city for 15 years. BJP has not been in control for 27 years.

Delhi has 13,766 polling stations ready to facilitate the election process. Among the 1.56 registered voters, 83.76 lakhs are men, 72.36 lakhs are women, and 1,267 are third-gender voters.

  1. Region Your Name: If you are of voting age i.e., 18 years, make sure your name is listed on the electoral roll. You may complete the registration through the Election Commission of India’s website.
  2. Verify Your Name In Voter List: Visit electoral Search or using the Voter Helpline App available on Android and iOS to check if your name appears in the voters’ list.
  3. Find Your Polling Station: Use the Election Commission's tools to locate the polling station assigned to you.
  4. Carry Your ID: Carry your voter ID or other required ID documents.

Process At The Polling Booth

  1. Check-In And Verification: After verification, your left forefinger will be inked to prevent double voting.
  2. Voter’s Slip: You will receive a voter’s slip, which you need to sign in the register.
  3. Voting: In the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), press the button next to the candidate's symbol of your choice. A beep and red light will confirm your selection.
  4. VVPAT Check: After you cast the vote, the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will show the selected candidate's name, serial number, and symbol for seven seconds.
  5. Exit: After casting your vote, exit the booth and show your inked finger to indicate you’ve voted.
