Amidst this win, what caught attention was the re-election of six Indian Americans to the House Of Representatives. About Pramila Jayapal
Pramila Jayapal was first elected in 2016 and twice re-elected with more votes than any other lawmaker in the house. Currently, this Congresswoman is carving her fourth term as the U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District, which constitutes most of Seattle and its surrounding areas. She is also the proud Chair of the 96-member Congressional Progressive Caucus and serves on the House Judiciary, Education & Labor, and Budget Committees. She was honoured to be on the Select Committee for Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth, a member of the Immigration Task Force for the Congressional Asian Pacific Asian Caucus, and a Vice Chair of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus where she is the co-chair of the Transgender Equality Task Force.

Pramila Jayapal's Early Life
Pramila Jayapal was born in Chennai (places to visit in chennai) to a Malayali family in 1965. She grew up in India, Indonesia, and Singapore before moving to the United States at 16. She earned her undergraduate from Georgetown University in English and Economics and did her MBA from Northwestern University. Before pursuing her MBA, she worked in several public and private industries. She also authored two books: Pilgrimage to India: A Woman Revisits Her Homeland and Use the Power You Have: A Brown Woman’s Guide to Politics and Political Change.

Pramila Jayapal Personal Life
Currently, she resides in West Seattle with her husband Steve Williamson who is a long-time labour leader. She is also a mother of a daughter and stepson.
Pramila Jayapal's Professional Experience
As mentioned above, before getting into politics, Pramila worked in several public and private industries for almost a decade. She is the founder and executive director of One America and the Director of Path Fund For Technology Transfer. She also served as a Financial Analyst. Pramila was a civil rights activist and, until 2012, served as the executive director of OneAmerica, a pro-immigrant advocacy group.
