Passport Seva Portal Shut Down
The External Affairs Ministry's statement read, "Passport Seva portal will be down for technical maintenance from 29th August 2024, Thursday 20:00 hrs IST to 2nd September, Monday 06:00 hrs IST. The system will not be available during this period for citizens and all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Police Authorities. The already booked appointments for 30th August 2024 will be suitably rescheduled and informed to applicants.”
The notice further said that all appointments that were booked on August 30 have been rescheduled and applicants will be informed about the rescheduled dates via SMS on their registered mobile numbers.
Why Is The Passport Seva Portal Closed?
The Passport Seva Portal is closed due to technical maintenance. The Passport Seva Portal is used for booking appointments at centres across India. The applicants are required to appear at the office in person and provide the necessary documents for verification. Later, police verification takes place, followed by the delivery of the passport to the applicant’s registered address within 30-45 working days. Applicants can also opt for the tatkal mode to get their passport delivered quickly within a few days.

The Chandigarh Regional Passport (what is e-passport) Office issued a notice that read, ‘The General Enquiry walk-in Counter at the main office, Sector 34A will remain closed on August 30. Also, all other Passport Seva Kendras under the Regional Passport Office, Ranchi, will remain closed on Friday.
