The makers of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar starrer - ‘Saand Ki Aankh’ released the film trailer yesterday. The young actresses who played the role of Haryana's sharpshooters Prakashi and Chandro Tomar in the movie were lauded for their phenomenal performance. While some praised the actresses, others questioned why senior actresses were not approached for this film and this sparked a debate on twitter.

It all started when one user on Twitter pointed out how Neena Gupta, Shabana Azmi or Jaya Bachchan would have been a better fit for the movie instead of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar who are yet to touch 30. To this veteran actress Neena Gupta replied, “Yes i was just thinking about this hamari umar ke role toe kamsekam humse kara lo bhai.”

This tweet caught Kanagana Ranaut's sister Rangoli Chandel attention and she took to twitter to narrate her side of the story. She wrote, ""Neena ji Kangana was offered this movie and she loved the true story of Grandmom’s achievements she suggested yours and Ramya Krishnan ma’am’s name for lead roles but these men can’t remove deeply rooted sexism from their filthy brains ...".

She then retweeted veteran Neena Gupta's post about the issue that reads, "Yes i was just thinking about this hamari umar ke role toe kamsekam humse kara lo bhai" and wrote, "Even today Kangana feel Ramya krishnan and Neena Gupta ji would have been a far better option, and they have a great market value, why can’t they be mainstream actresses ??when I call these people sasta"

Rangoli also addressed the ageist approach of Hindi film industry in her tweets, as she wrote, "We will never have a Meryl Streep in India if we keep shamelessly displaying older women phobia like this... shame on you all Bolly filth... for promoting sexism in the name of feminism ."

"I always wanted them to play this role and I am happy they did. Actors usually play college students. You should thank and applaud them that at this age they are playing 60-year-olds. I went to everyone in the entire industry. Every heroine was scared to take up this role. These are the only two women who had the guts to do it," Tushar said, during the trailer launch.

The film that is based on the real-life story of India's oldest female shooter duo, Chandro, and Prakashi Tomar, is directed by Tushar Hiranandani and will hit the silver screen on October 25, 2019.
