Produced by Boney Kapoor, Mili is the official Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam film Helen directed by Mathukutty Xavier, which has also been remade into Tamil, titled Anbirkinyal. Helen stars Anan Ben in the lead role along with Lal, Noble Babu Thomas, Aju Varghese, Rony David, and Binu Pappu in pivotal roles.

In the film, Helen works at a Chicken Hub, where she is later locked inside the freezer by mistake and has to survive -18 degrees. During the struggles to get out, she fractures her leg, gets frostbite, and bleeds through her nose. She is finally rescued after five hours and taken to the hospital right before she was about to reach the last stage of hypothermia.

In the Hindi remake, Kapoor plays Mili Naudiyal, a 24-year-old Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate, who works a part-time job at a chicken centre in a city mall. She lives with her father, and Sunny Kaushal plays her boyfriend. Mili’s life changes within an evening as she gets stuck inside a freezer of the chicken centre and she has to fight the cold to survive.
