Phone Bhoot, the Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Ishaan Khatter starrer, is all set to hit the theatres on November 4, 2022. The film is one of the most-awaited horror comedy films of the year as Kaif will be essaying a role in this genre for the first time.

The film revolves around a ghost who reaches out to two noobie ghostbusters for a business idea, which soon goes downhill as the eerie ghost reveals her actual plans.

The 2007 horror comedy film Bhool Bhulaiyaa is till date one of the most praised and beloved Hindi films. The film starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja, Ameesha Patel, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Asrani, and Vikram Gokhale, among others. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, adapted by Neeraj Vora and Manisha Korde. The film revolves around the royal family of Varani, whose ancestral place is believed to be haunted by the ghost of Manjulika, a classical dancer from Bengal.

Bhool Bhulaiya 2

The sequel to Bhool Bhulaiyaa, the 2022 horror comedy film Bhool Bhualiyaa 2 stars Kartik Aaryan, Tabu, and Kiara Advani. The film follows Ruhaan Randhawa, who pretends to be a psychic, who dealt with Manjulika, the ghost haunting the Thakur family for vengeance. The film became the highest grossing film of the year and collected approximately ₹266.88 crore.

Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor alongside Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee, the 2018 Amar Kaushik film Stree is based on Karnataka’s urban legend Nale Ba (meaning ‘come tomorrow’). In the film, the phrase was modified O Stree Kal Aana (oh woman come tomorrow). The story revolves around a female ghost, who abducts men at night whenever they are alone while only leaving their clothes behind. The film is the first in filmmaker and producer Dinesh Vijan’s universe of horror comedies that includes Roohi and the upcoming Varun Dhawan starrer film Bhediya.

Bhooter Bhabishyat (Future of the Past or Future of Ghost) is a multi starrer Bengali horror comedy that was later remade in Hindi. The directorial debut of Anik Dutta became one of the biggest hits of the year in Bengali films in 2012. The film revolves around an old dilapidated house, Chowdhury Mansion, which a promoter wants to demolish and rebuild as a shopping mall. But, the house is haunted by the spirit of its last owner and other ghosts who protect the house and save it from being torn down.
