45 Crore Devotees Took a Holy Dip In River Ganga
The visuals from the Prayagraj showcased devotees assembling near the ghats in the city to take a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. It is believed that it washes away their sins and attains salvation. According to the official government data, around 40 lakh devotees took a dip in the Triveni Sangam at 8 am on Monday, January 13, 2025.
PM Modi Welcomes Devotees
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi took to social media X to welcome the devotees in Prayagraj. He wrote, “A very special day for crores of people who cherish Bharatiya values and culture! Maha Kumbh 2025 commences in Prayagraj, bringing together countless people in a sacred confluence of faith, devotion and culture. The Maha Kumbh embodies India’s timeless spiritual heritage and celebrates faith and harmony."
"I am happy to see Prayagraj abuzz with countless people coming there, taking the holy dip and seeking blessings. Wishing all pilgrims and tourists a wonderful stay," PM Modi added.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath took to social media X to address the event. His post read, “Around 40 lakh pilgrims took the first holy dip in the early hours, marking the start of this grand spiritual gathering. "Greetings on Paush Purnima. The world's largest spiritual and cultural gathering, 'Mahakumbh,' begins today in Prayagraj.”

Maha Kumbh 2025
Prayagraj is witnessing the arrival of lakhs of devotees to take a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh 2025. The devotees began to gather at the newly expanded triangular area at Sangam Noj Ghat to begin the religious activities and rituals in the morning. This 45-day festival will continue till February 26, 2025.
