The Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha, which released on Thursday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, had a comparatively smaller opening than expected. As per Box Office India, Laal Singh Chaddha collected approximately 11.50 crore nett on its first day.

Laal Singh Chaddha is adapted from the 1994 Tom Hanks American film Forrest Gump, which is based on the 1986 Winston Groom’s novel of the same name. The film also stars Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya, making his Bollywood debut, and Hindi actor Mona Singh in pivotal roles.

As per Box Office reports, the film has done best in the Delhi NCR and East Punjab area on its first day. The collections in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, and Punjab are good but the fact that Aamir’s character is a Punjabi one, the box office expected it to do better in Punjab.

While the collection from the Southern part of India is comparatively lower as an Aamir starrer film was expected to have a higher footfall in the southern market. The film has also not done well in the rest of the country except for a few theatres in Mumbai and Pune.
