Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, graced theatres on August 11 when siblings are celebrating the unconditional love they have for each other. It was never a doubt that the film would hit emotional chords with the audience.

However, fans were sceptical about the simultaneous release of the film with Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. But these Twitter reactions will make you want to book tickets for the film and watch it with your brothers and sisters.

Positive Reactions On Twitter

Dushyant Sharma had only one thing to say about the film. He loved the emotional concept and music. Calling it a blockbuster, the user also thought it was Kumar’s one of the best performances so far.

Raja Rahul called it a roller coaster ride and full family entertainer. According to him, Kumar had done a great job, and he loved the actor’s chemistry with his reel sisters.

Manish Raj Srivastav tweeted that the second half of the movie made him emotional. He found it to be one of the nicest films in Bollywood, however, he found the ending rather a bit abrupt.

Nishit Shaw thought that the music in the film was like a cherry on the cake. He felt that Kumar’s character was relatable and called the movie ‘a special one’.

Abhi Pandit tweeted that the first half of the film was hilarious and loved Kumar’s comic timing. He found the interval unpredictable.

Suraj Indani through the storyline and acting brilliant. He felt a connection with the film and its characters.

A. K. Sharma wrote that the first half was about good performances, and the second half was loaded with emotions. He called it a good hit.

Abhishek Parihar called the film ‘superb and simple. He said it dealt with one of the most important problems in society. His tweet read, “The film makes you laugh, feel and empathise with the characters.”

A few days before the release of the film, writer Kanika Dhillon’s tweet was found to be 'Hinduphobic' by a few people on the platform. Therefore, #BoycottRakshaBandhan started trending on Twitter.

While promoting the film in Kolkata, Kumar said, “It is a free country, everyone can do what they want. But this all (Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan) helps the economy of India.”

He further added, “We are all on the verge of becoming the biggest and the greatest country. I would request them (trolls) and you (media), don’t get into it (cancel culture).”

Twinkle Khanna

Applauding the film on Instagram, author and columnist Twinkle Khanna wrote, “Raksha Bandhan made me laugh in the first half and cry through the second.”

She said the film was about the India that we all pretend doesn’t exist. “A reality that we wish didn’t exist,” she added.
