The hit-and-run occurred in a narrow street in Jaipur’s Nahargarh locality, where an SUV, reportedly out of control, rammed into multiple pedestrians and two-wheelers without warning. The incident took place at around 9:30 pm on Monday, April 7, 2025. Eyewitnesses described the scene as very terrifying and chaotic, with people screaming for help and several victims being flung onto the road after the impact.

CCTV footage from the scene captured the shocking moment the SUV, driven at an extremely high speed, went through the narrow street. The vehicle struck multiple people and bikes along its path, suggesting the driver had little or no control.
Accused Driver Drunk Detained
Preliminary police investigations reveal that the driver, identified as Usman Khan, a resident of Shastri Nagar, was under the influence of alcoholduring the incident. He owns an iron factory in Vishwakarma, according to a Rajasthan Patrika report. After the collision, Usman Khan attempted to flee the scene but was intercepted by alert residents who gave chase and stopped the vehicle.
He was handed over to the police and is now in custody. Officers have confirmed that the SUV has been seized, and legal proceedings under applicable sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) are underway.

Immediate Police And Medical Response
Quick response teams from Nahargarh Police Station and the Accident PoliceStation North reached the spot within minutes of the incident. Ambulances were called promptly, and first aid was administered before transporting the victims to SMS Hospital. Authorities praised the cooperation of residents in helping manage the chaos and assisting with the injured.

Legal Action And Investigation Underway
Biju George Joseph, Commissioner, Jaipur Police, has confirmed that further strict action and legal steps are being taken against the accused, including testing for alcohol levels and analysing the SUV's speed using CCTV footage and forensic evidence. The post-mortem reports of the deceased are awaited and will be critical in building the legal case.
