A few days back, the official Instagram handles of HBO and House Of The Dragon dropped a new poster with Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke as grown-up Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower.
So far we know that the upcoming episode, the sixth one in the season, will be taking a 10-year leap after which we will no longer see Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as Rhaenyra and Alicent. In episode five, we found out that Alicent knew the truth about the night Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen went to a ‘house of pleasures’.
The last episode made it evident that the two of them would no longer be seen as friends. Moreover, King Viserys I bled through his nose and fell to the ground during princess Rhaenyra’s nuptials.
However, the grown-up characters will be taking the story forward as Alcock and Carey bid goodbye (for now), and we will get to see ‘bloodlines burning’ as mentioned in the caption.

Let’s get acquainted with the new Rhaenyra and Alicent.

According to recent reports, they spoke about performing a few stunts for the show and enjoying the process. D’Arcy added, “I was sort of cocky about it because I like a challenge.”
The team of House Of The Dragon started shooting during the Covid-19 pandemic when gyms were shut. D’Arcy shared, “This was right in the middle of the pandemic, and needless to say, the gym hadn’t been open. It was a shock to the system.”
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the characters, they said, “They (Rhaenyra and Alicent) have privilege, but they don’t have power. It’s one thing to put two female characters in the centre of a series like this, but it’s another when they are positioned within patriarchy.”

In 2014, Cooke won the Screen International award for UK Stars of Tomorrow. In 2017, she was bestowed with the Newport Beach Film Festival for Best Actress award.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cooke said she and D’Arcy hit it off instantly. While speaking about hardships women go through and the life of the characters (Rhaenyra and Alicent) in the series, she said, “Our bodies (as women) continue to be politicised.” She added, “It’s interesting playing a character that is in a medieval time, and how (same) things are still going on.”

Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke are not much active on social media. However, we cannot wait to see what fierce newness they bring to the characters on House of the Dragon. It will be thrilling to see Rhaenyra and Alicent grinding each other instead of being allies.
