A Twitter user pointed out that episode four of House Of The Dragon was directed by a woman, Clare Kilner. It has sex scenes where Milly Alcock aka Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen was shown to be exploring her sexuality.
However, unlike Game Of Thrones, the camera was not completely focused on a woman’s body, instead it focused on female pleasure.
GoT Lacked The Female Gaze

The user pointed out that GoT had 76 episodes of which only four were directed by women. It had scenes with complete nudity, which the user said created an extremely unsafe environment for actresses in particular, many of whom spoke out about their discomfort at the constant objectification.
She also said that the showrunners added rape scenes in GoT, which never existed in the books. They also re-wrote consensual sex scenes into ones that involved assault. She went on to add that GoT had an adverse effect on the people watching, for it depicted brutality on the bodies of women.

‘No Titillation’ In House Of The Dragon
The user posted a thread in which she mentioned that, unlike GoT, the brothel scene in House Of The Dragon was a conversation about pleasure and desire. In that era, sex for women was more like a death sentence as it came with the perils of childbirth. Rhaenyra’s mother died while giving birth to her baby brother.
However, in that particular scene, the camera moves on the bodies of men and women with titillating lingering zoom shots. She wrote, “Sex is intimacy, but intimacy is more than that too.”
This episode of #HouseoftheDragon featured two main characters in brothels. A very important conversation they'd was about desire&pleasure for women, in a time where sex was a death sentence for them due to the perils of childbirth.

While speaking to Variety, Emily Carey aka Alicent Hightower, said she was ‘scared’ of the sex scene in episode four of the show. The ‘King Of The Narrow Sea’ has intimate scenes with her on-screen husband, the much-older King Viserys I, where she is shownreluctantly having sex with him.
She said, “Having that outlet of the intimacy coordinator, to be able to talk everything through and not be shunned, or not feel awkward… it was an open dialogue.”

She added that it was an amazing experience for her to be working with so many women behind the scenes and directed by Clare Kilner.
“It was empowering being on that set as a young girl and being treated the same as all of these very established men. It was great, I think they approached this in the best way they could have done,” she concluded.
