The tragic death of a woman Congress worker, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase near the Sampla Bus Stand along the Rohtak-Delhi highway, has sparked a major political uproar. The shocking incident occurred on the same day as the municipal elections in the state.

The victim has been identified as Himani Narwal, a Youth Congress office-bearer from Rohtak, a key political base of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Here’s a detailed look at everything uncovered about the case so far.

Who Was Himani Narwal?

Hailing from Kathura village in Sonepat, Himani Narwal was a dedicated Congress worker known for her active participation in political and cultural events. As reported by Hindustan Times, she worked closely with Rohtak MP Deepender Hooda and was a regular presence at party rallies, often performing alongside Haryanvi folk artists.

On social media, Himani identified herself as the vice president of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) in Rohtak Rural. Former Youth Congress president Srinivas BV also paid tribute to her, highlighting her commitment and excellence in every responsibility she took on, from the Bharat Jodo Yatra to other party events.

She had walked alongside Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and played an active role in campaigning for Congress during the Haryana Assembly elections.

Himani Narwal Murder Case: What We Know So Far

The Haryana Police arrested Sachin, a mobile shop owner from Jhajjar, for allegedly strangling Congress worker Himani Narwal after a dispute at her home and later disposing of her body in a suitcase. Investigations have revealed chilling details of the crime, Narwal was reportedly strangled with a phone charger, and Sachin took her scooter, laptop, and jewellery before stuffing her body into a black suitcase.

That night, he carried the suitcase and a blood-stained quilt in an autorickshaw, getting off near the Sampla bus stand to mislead investigators before abandoning the bag and fleeing. Himani Narwal’s body was discovered along the Rohtak-Delhi highway on March 1, 2025, according to Hindustan Times.

ADGP KK Rao stated, “Himani lived alone at her residence in Vijay Nagar, Rohtak, where the accused was a frequent visitor and often stayed with her. On February 27, he stayed at her home, and the next day, they had a heated argument over a monetary dispute. In the altercation, he strangled her to death, first tying her hands with her stole and then using a mobile charger wire to kill her.”

Meanwhile, the case has taken a political turn, with Narwal’s mother, Savita, alleging that a Congress party member could be involved. She claimed her daughter’s rising political career may have posed a threat to some within the party. Police confirmed that Sachin had been in contact with Narwal for over a year and had visited her home on February 27, 2025, the day of the murder, following an argument.
