In the recent Commonwealth Games 2022, the team made history by bringing home a silver medal. They were playing against an Australian team that won by narrow margins.

When the captain was asked about the women’s IPL and what she thought about it, she replied, “I think that is a great platform where domestic players can perform and get that experience.”

Adding to it, she said that she felt the Indian women's team is held back because the domestic level is not that great. She feels that it puts a lot of pressure on the player when they suddenly become a part of the national team and have to play for the country.

The skipper of the Indian women’s team also believes that the IPL would allow domestic cricketers to play with international ones, some of the best in the world, allowing them to gain more experience.

She said it would help the youth looking to join the national team and represent the country on international ground, “They will not feel that pressure which eventually they feel when they come and play international games.”

Women’s IPL is all set to commence from March 2023, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India is looking to stage its inauguration.
