With the coronavirus pandemic that engulfed the entire world in 2020 and the lockdown that came with it, one of the most affected industries was the film industry. All theatres across the world were shut down for several months and eventually, they started opening with 50% occupancy and much later 100%. Meanwhile, a number of single-screen theatres were shut down across India as the makers took to OTT platforms to release their films.
As films resorted to streaming platforms, films were also shelved because of several reasons including travel restrictions, lockdown, and budget among others. Some among these are slowly releasing while others were postponed for an indefinite period.
While the theatres are still trying to recover from the loss they incurred throughout the lockdown, several much-awaited films are disappointing audiences at the box office. Films like Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera, Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan and Samrat Prithviraj are a few among others which fell flat at the box office this year.
Here are five films with a stellar star cast that have been put on hold or shelved for an indefinite period and we have been eagerly waiting for.
