Taapsee Pannu and Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa released in theatres on Janmashtami, August 19. Despite the boycott trend on Twitter, the film has managed to impress the audience and critics. It has bagged several good reviews.

Twitter Reactions

Bhavna tweeted that Dobaaraa was a deliciously twisted, mind-boggling psychological thriller. She added, “You walk out of theatre still trying to navigate by lanes and timelines.”

A user found the first half of Dobaaraa wow. He said it was intense, fast-paced and very simple to follow without dumbing down.

Pooja Ramachandran wrote that Dobaaraa was a great watch. “Taapsee has done a fabulous job,” she added. She found the storyline gripping and said the film was worth a watch.

Film-maker, director and writer Sudhir Mishra urged his fans to go and watch Dobaaraa in theatres. He tweeted that it was a terrific film with a brilliant performance by Taapsee Pannu.

Actor and producer Nikhil Dwivedi wrote that Dobaaraa was a delight. He called it a ‘unique must watch’ film. He loved the direction of Anurag Kashyap and the performance of Taapsee Pannu.

A user pointed out that the film is a remake of the Spanish movie Mirage which was released in 2018. He added, “Another reason to boycott this movie for shamelessly remaking a masterpiece movie. Taapsee did the same with Badla, which was also a remake of The Invisible Guest.”

From trolling the actor and director Anurag Kashyap to making it a communal controversy, Twitterati has left no stone unturned to boycott the film.

Taapsee Pannu’s Reaction

Seeing the positive reviews, Pannu took it to her Instagram account and shared a heartfelt note. She wrote, “The immense love we are getting from our pre-releasing screenings have made us realise how we miss the joy of making a GOOD FILM in the garb of box office success.”

The caption further read, “We will celebrate the fact that we could make such a film in the times when playing safe is the only option for survival, regardless of however the box office result is.”

She also shared a note by the makers of the film. It read, “Some films are measured purely by their Box Office collections, some films are measured solely by their scale, and then there are some that receive so much love that they go on to be CULT films.”
