Actor Krishna, Father Of Mahesh Babu Passes Away At 80

Veteran Tollywood actor and father of Mahesh Babu, Krishna, whose full name is Ghattamaneni Sivarama Krishna, passed away at Continental Hospital in Hyderabad in the early hours of November 15. He was admitted to a private hospital after suffering cardiac arrest on Monday and he was stated to be critical since then.

Soon after the news of the actor's death, celebrities paid tribute to the late actor and offered their condolences.

Actor Rajinikanth tweeted, "The demise of Krishna garu is a great loss to the Telugu film industry … working with him in 3 films are memories i will always cherish. My heartfelt condolences to his family …may his soul rest in peace @urstrulyMahesh"

Actor Kamal Haasan tweeted, "An icon of Telugu cinema Krishna gaaru is no more, an era ends with his demise. I wish to share the grief of brother @urstrulyMahesh who has to bear this third emotional trauma of losing a mother, brother and now his father. My deepest condolence dear Mahesh gaaru."

Mahesh Babu's Family Releases An Official Statement

After Krishna's demise, the family of Mahesh Babu reportedly shared an official press note. The press note read, "It is with the deepest grief that we inform you of the passing of our dearest Krishna garu. He was a superstar in so many ways beyond the movie screen... guided by love, humility and compassion. He will live on through his work, through us, and the many lives he influenced. He loved us more than anything and we will miss him more with each passing day... but as they say, goodbyes aren't forever. Until we meet again..."

Krishna is survived by his children from his first wife Indira, Mahesh Babu, Manjula, Padmavathi and Priyadarshini, and his second wife, actor-filmmaker Vijaya Nirmala.

Krishna's first wife and Mahesh Babu's mother passed away in September this year. Mahesh Babu's elder brother died in January this year.
