What Is Aazol All About?

Aazol means maternal grandmother’s home in Marathi. The brand was started with the vision to provide consumers with home-grown foods that they ate at their maternal grandmother’s home. It is a brand that was born during the pandemic and has been in operation for two years and counting now. It all started when Apurva and Siddharth happened to meet indigenous women across India who were producing amazing food products from ancient grains. They were organized into self help groups, micro entrepreneurs and farmer communities across the country starting from Maharashtra but did not have the access to supply chains or a marketplace. This was the advent of Aazol which ensured equality at the rural bottom of the pyramid level.
What's more, it offers us a range of healthy sweets, traditional specialities, chutneys and pickles, masalas and papads, rice and flour and much more. The brand ensures that all Aazol’s products are high quality, and are handmade in small batches with lots of love and diligence.
The Noble Idea Of Women Empowerment Via Self-Help Groups Ft. Aazol
What stands behind Aazol are the stories of women who had grappled with adversity, dealt with criticism, sometimes stemming from their kith and kin, and yet overcome challenges which many of us would have found difficult.

In a conversation with Hezindagi, Apurva Purohit spoke about the conception of Aazol stemming from an idea of giving back. She said, “Aazol was serendipitously created from this very idea of social justice and the desire to give back. I wanted to work with women and my son wanted to work for the environment. Thus came the idea of creating Aazol, as a business by including rural indigenous communities as producers and us as marketers.”
