Phule Box Office Collection Day 3: Anant Mahadevan’s ‘Phule’, a biographical drama starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha, has seen a modest start at the box office. According to data from Sacnilk, the film earned ₹1.05 crore (India Net) in its opening weekend, with global collections touching ₹1.23 crore. Despite its powerful subject and notable performances, the film has yet to draw significant footfall to theatres.

Early box office numbers suggest that the film hasn't managed to convert its historical and social weight into commercial success, at least not yet. As per Sacnilk, ‘Phule’ collected ₹0.15 crore on Day 1, ₹0.3 crore on Day 2, and ₹0.6 crore on Day 3, taking its total India Net collection to ₹1.05 crore. The film has not reported any overseas earnings so far.

Released on April 25, 2025, after a delay from its original April 11 release date, ‘Phule’ tells the story of iconic social reformers Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule—pioneers of education and gender equality in 19th-century India. The film aims to highlight their lifelong fight against caste-based oppression and their groundbreaking work in promoting education for women and lower-caste communities. Pratik Gandhi plays Jyotirao Phule, while Patralekha portrays Savitribai Phule in what many expected to be one of the most important films of the year.

While ‘Phule’ has received praise in some circles for its intention and performances, it hasn’t been without controversy. The release delay sparked speculation about possible distribution issues, and some critics have pointed out that the film’s pacing and narrative structure might be limiting its mainstream appeal. With no major verdict yet and limited buzz outside niche audiences, it remains to be seen whether strong word of mouth or critical acclaim can give the film a second wind in the coming weeks.

Despite the underwhelming numbers, ‘Phule’ continues to be relevant for its subject matter, bringing much-needed attention to historical figures who have shaped India’s social fabric.
