Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest film ‘Daaku Maharaaj’, written and directed by Bobby Kolli, arrived as a Sankranthi treat on January 12, 2025, bringing high expectations and excitement among fans. The film, featuring Balakrishna in the role of a dacoit-turned-civil servant, opened to a warm reception and strong buzz, especially with its engaging background score by Thaman. However, as per Sacnilk’s box office report, the film’s early success quickly faded as it experienced a sharp decline in collections on Day 2, signalling trouble for its long-term performance.
Daaku Maharaaj Box Office Collection Day 2
On its opening day (Day 1), ‘Daaku Maharaaj’ made an impressive ₹22.5 crore in India net collections, signalling a strong start for this Sankranthi release. The film had sparked curiosity and garnered attention for its intriguing premise and Balakrishna’s role. However, the momentum was short-lived, with a significant drop on Day 2 (Monday). According to Sacnilk, the film’s net collections for Day 2 fell drastically to ₹1.28 crore, marking a steep fall in performance. The total India net collection for the film after two days now stands at ₹23.78 crore.
Daaku Maharaaj Plot
The narrative centres around Nanaji, portrayed by Balakrishna, who serves as a trusted chauffeur to Tea Estate owner Krishna Murthy (Sachin Khedekar). The plot thickens when MLA Thirumala Naidu (Ravi Kishan) is discovered cultivating cocaine on the estate premises. The story takes a compelling turn as Nanaji steps forward to protect Krishna Murthy's family, while simultaneously being pursued by Maharashtra's law enforcement.
Daaku Maharaaj Star Cast
Balakrishna leads the film in the titular role, supported by a strong cast that includes Bobby Deol as the antagonist, Singh Thakur. The female leads are Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, and Chandhini Chowdary, adding more depth to the storyline. Urvashi Rautela also makes a cameo appearance in the controversial song ‘Dabidi Dibidi,’ while the supporting cast includes Harshavardhan and Ravi Kishan, among others.
While 'Daaku Maharaaj' had a stellar opening, the sharp drop in collections on Day 2 raises concerns about its box office journey. With a total of ₹23.78 crore after two days, the film faces an uphill battle to regain its momentum.
