Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Trailer Shows Majnu Bhai's Painting: Do You Know Who Actually Drew It?

The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 trailer created waves the moment it dropped on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Lasting close to 4 minutes, it is trending at number 3 on YouTube at the time of writing. The trailer has crossed over 5 crore views and more than 43,000 comments. And most of them were about a certain painting that appears at the 0:43-second mark. This is the painting's second filmy appearance.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Painting's 'Welcome' Connection

The funny picture, which shows a baby donkey over a horse, first appeared in Welcome (2007). Titled "Rocking Horse," it was shown as a painting by Majnu Bhai (Anil Kapoor), a kind-hearted and short-tempered don and brother of Katrina Kaif's character, in the film. But do you know who actually drew it?

The painting, which was auctioned for several thousand dollars in Welcome, was done by none other than the film's director Anees Bazmee. If one looks closely, one can see his initials on the right bottom side of the painting in that scene in the trailer. Interestingly, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 also has Bazmee as the director, so the cameo makes sense.

From the trailer comments, one can understand fans of Welcome sure felt nostalgic as they enjoyed this quick callback. Reports say Bazmee was inspired by ace painter the late MF Hussain and initially drew the horse.

The donkey was added by Welcome's art director Pritam Patil to put a humorous spin and establish Majnu Bhai as a horrible artist in the film, as revealed by Bazmee to a media portal in 2020. Since 2007, the painting has been a part of numerous memes and has also been photoshopped to show that England's late Queen Elizabeth has it at her palace. Kapoor had also shared it on X years back as a joke.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3: Cast, Release Date, Clash

Starring Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and the surprise package of Madhuri Dixit, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is slated to hit theaters on November 1, 2024. The other cast members include Rajpal Yadav aka Chhota Pandit, Vijay Raaz, Rajesh Sharma, Manish Wadhwa, Sanjay Mishra, and Ashwini Kalsekar.

The horror comedy will engage in a high-octane clash at the commercial window against Singham Again. So, expect true fireworks at the box office this Diwali.
