One of the most disarming moments is when Prem says, “Main is shaadi ke liye tayyar nahi tha,” admitting his fear and immaturity. The film doesn’t gloss over their emotional distance but lets you witness the slow bloom of empathy and affection. Their bond doesn’t arrive with a grand proposal but with a piggyback race, literally and metaphorically, where Prem finally lifts the weight of his prejudice and sees Sandhya for who she is. “Life mein do choices hote hain, ya toh control sambhalo ya phir chhod do,” Zain tells Alisha, and in that moment, their entire equation stands revealed: flawed choices and the search for control in lives spiraling into chaos. It’s a romance that refuses to be boxed in by morality or tradition. Gehraiyaan asks uncomfortable questions: Can two broken people build something whole? Set against the haunting ghats of Varanasi, Masaan is a tale of young love caught in the crossfire of caste, grief, and fate. The romance between Deepak, a Dom boy who burns funeral pyres, and Shaalu, a high-caste girl who loves poetry, is quiet yet powerful.
