Dev Deepwali is one of the most beautiful festivals observed 15 days after Diwali on the occasion of Kartik Purnima every year. This year it is going to be observed on November 15, 2024. Ahead of the celebration, Varanasi prepares for a historic celebration with over 17 lakh diyas illuminating the ghats, ponds, and Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Varanasi Decked Up With Over 17 Lakh Diya

Varanasi is all set to celebrate Dev Deepawali on November 15, 2024, when over 17 lakh diyas will brighten up the 84 ghats, ponds, and Kashi Vishwanath temple. According to district officials, the celebration will include a laser light and sound show and several other events to make this celebration a memorable one.

This year Varanasi (varanasi travel guide) is all set to create history with 17 lakh diyas illuminating its ghats. However, this is not the only highlight of the festival. Laser light and sound show at Chet Singh Ghat, a green firecrackers show in front of KV Dham and a cultural program at Namo Ghat are some of the major events that will accompany the festive night.

The Schedule of Events On Dev Deepawali

The diya lighting will take place between 5:30 pm and 6:20 pm, followed by a firecracker show for about five minutes. The cultural program will begin at 5 pm at Namo Ghat and the aarti is scheduled from 7 pm to 7:45 pm. The laser light and sound show at Chet Singh Ghat will open to the general public from 7:20 pm to 7:45 pm. The events will conclude with an eco-friendly fireworks display at 8:45 pm.

Dev Deepawali’ also known as ‘festival of gods’ holds utmost significance for every Banarasi. This festival celebrates the victory of Lord Shiva over the demon Tripurasura and the peace in the universe. It is believed that Lord Shiva descended to earth and took a dip in the holy Ganges, while the people of Varanasi illuminated the ghats with diyas to honour the divine.
