The third instalment of the Aadu series makes a wildly unexpected turn in the third act, leaving the fans both surprised and divided. The series, known for its quirky humour and chaotic storylines, suddenly introduces the element of time travel, focusing on the character of Shaji Pappan, thereby changing the course of the narrative significantly. Even though the move is surprising, it also makes one question the direction of the series and whether this move has helped the narrative or has complicated it even more.
The climax of the movie Aadu 3 also reveals that Shaji Pappan is no longer bound by the linear timeline of the movie. The movie has introduced the element of time travel, which means that the events of the movie can loop, reset, and even be changed. This means that the consequences that have been introduced in the movie may not be the final ones. At first, this element of the movie introduces the idea of unpredictability. It also gives the creators the freedom to do anything they want with the movie, including the past events of the movie, in the next instalments of the movie. It is here that the problem with the movie lies.

The charm of Aadu has always been its absurdity with a sense of grounding. It was chaotic but still connected to reality. However, with time travel incorporated into the mix, there is a risk of losing this sense of authenticity. The stakes of the situation become diminished, considering that anything important can be undone. The twist also changes the genre of the movie from a quirky comedy to a sci-fi-inspired one. This may not be what long-time fans of Aadu want to see. It opens doors for Aadu 4 but also makes one wonder if they will be able to retain their original genre.
According to IMDb, the movie’s gist reads, “In three parallel timelines, past, present, and future, Shaji Pappan and his gang appear in different roles. As secrets surface and powerful enemies emerge in both eras, the gang is drawn into high-stakes confrontations.”
