Ms. Kkanchan Gupta, a co-winner in The Changemaker Award category of the HZ Womenpreneur Awards 2025 (3rd season), is on a mission. She wants to restore the elegance, ease, and confidence of one of the most neglected strata of society- the senior citizens- through her brand, Haxor. India's first elderly fashionwear brand, Haxor was launched on January 26, 2025, in Delhi. Here's more to her story.
Ms. Gupta hatched the idea of Haxor due to a deeply personal issue. "During my mother's last stage of cancer, I saw her struggle with something as simple as changing clothes. That moment stayed with me, making me realize how overlooked the needs of elderly and differently-abled individuals are. This led me to create Haxor, an adaptive clothing brand that prioritizes comfort, dignity, and ease of wear," she told HerZindagi.

Haxor offers clothing options for mostly elderly men and women, bedridden patients, and amputees. The catalogues are interesting and pretty thoughtful. For men, the options are open-back trousers and t-shirts, elastic waist trousers, velcro closure pants, and many such. For women, open-back tops, adaptive skirts, and front-open kurti/tunics.
A scan through the website makes you wonder about the kind of intense research Ms. Gupta and her team did for months. "I spent months understanding the pain points of seniors, caregivers, and individuals with limited mobility. After that, I started developing prototypes, collaborating with experts, and testing designs," she shares.
However, it was not easy at all. "The biggest challenge is changing the way people perceive adaptive fashion. Many don’t realize how crucial it is until they or a loved one face mobility issues. Also, since adaptive clothing is relatively new in India, building awareness and demand requires significant effort. Convincing investors and retailers to bet on this category has been challenging but rewarding," Ms. Gupta says.

Ms. Gupta says there is "a significant economic opportunity in the silver economy." If data is to be believed, India will house more than 319 million seniors by 25 years from now. Globally, this would be one of the largest aging populations.
"The global silver economy is projected to reach $15 trillion by 2030, with India’s share growing steadily as longevity and spending power among seniors increase," Ms. Gupta highlighted.
This very scope sounds promising for a compassionate business like Haxor and this is a good thing. However, the company is still in its nascent stages, says the entrepreneur. To scale up though she has a few strategies up her sleeves, like:
Ms. Kkanchan Gupta wraps up by saying, "Seniors have contributed their entire lives to society; now, it’s our turn to ensure they live with dignity, independence, and comfort."
