Like every girl, Shaheen Malik was also living her life happily. However, in 2009, there came a turning point, reshaping in her entire life. which changed his her entire life. At that time, she was pursuing her MBA, driven by her aspirations to study and achieve her goals.
How did Shaheen Malik become an acid attack victim?
When Shaheen Malik stepped out of her office on November 19, 2009, she found a man standing with a handkerchief tied over his face. As she approached that person, he splashed acid on her face. Shaheen said, “I can never forget that day. I arrived at the hospital so tardily that 90 percent of my face suffered severe burns from the acid and one of my eyes was completely damaged.”
Who attacked Shaheen Malik?
The acid attack on Shaheen was planned by four people (her colleagues and university students), including a minor as well (no case was filed against him). Shaheen was a very bright student. This was the reason why people were jealous of her. However, the case is still pending in the court against the other three culprits.
Shaheen Malik's struggle:
A girl with bright ambitions and aspiring to achieve her goals, however, turned upside down. Shaheen said, "After the acid attack, my life was limited to going from hospital to home and from home to hospital. I suffered from depression. However, the financial burden on my family had increased a lot during this period. After which I started looking for a job in the year 2013. I got a job at a place who works for acid attack survivors.”

Shaheen Malik opened his own NGO:
“After working there, I met many girls like me and I started doing social work in 2013. I also worked with many organisations like Delhi Women Commission, Stop Attack, where I learned a lot and in the year 2021, I started my own organisation 'Brave Souls Foundation', said Shaheen Malik. Through the NGO and its shelter home,'Apna Ghar', Malik has helped more than 300 acid attack survivors get their treatment and surgeries done. "

The 'Brave Souls Foundation' extends various assistance to the acid attack survivors, including their education and treatment. Shaheen Malik says that ours is a shelter home, where acid attack survivors live. Girls from different states like UP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Mumbai, West Bengal come here. Here, we not only take care of their treatment but also provide them legal assistance and psychological therapy. Till now we have helped many girls through our NGO and we are still working on it.”
