Sex and sexual wellness are topics that people talk about in hushed tones in India. We live in a society where pharmacists still frown upon customers that come to buy condoms, and 70% of women do not experience orgasm (as per a 2021 Durex India study).
However, we have women and queer people who took the onus on their shoulders to open sexual wellness brands that sell everything that can help a person experience orgasmic ecstasy. Here are six of them that should be on your radar.
Bleü

Bleü was the brainchild of Komal Baldwa, who suffered toxic side effects from regular condoms. Vaginal dryness, intimate itching, and urinary tract infection were among a few symptoms that made her start this brand, which encourages women to be aware of what goes inside their bodies and choose accordingly.
Today, they sell all kinds of condoms - ultra thin, dotted, spiral, etc. When you order from Bleü, you get the products in discreet packaging, so no one can bat an eye about you having an active sexual life.
Sangya Project

Sangya Project was co-founded by Shweta Sangtani, Tanisha RK, and Aashish Mehrotra, a polyamorous ‘throuple’. They recently got featured in Vogue, and their Sangya Project is an online store that sells everything related to sexual wellness.
From vibrators to strapped harnesses, they provide every aid to help people explore their sexuality. The best thing is that their products are delivered without judgement. The official Instagram page of Sangya Project also unabashedly talks about inclusivity, pleasure, and masturbation, irrespective of sexual orientation.
Lovetreats

Lovetreats was founded in Bengaluru in 2015 by Ute Pauline Wiemer and her partner Balaji. Conversations around sex, and the subject being taboo made them start their brand that sells quality sex toys for women.
Wiemer calls them “tools for sexual empowerment”. She promotes the idea of women taking their pleasure into their own hands. The brand also sells tools for couples to spice up things and have a pleasurable experience.

Co-founded by Anushka Gupta and Sahil Gupta, MyMuse is a brand breaking myths and taboos around sex. From massagers to cleaning wipes, they aim at enhancing the intimate experience while ensuring people practice safe sex.
It is making products accessible to women who otherwise would have to face moral policing in pharmacies. The Instagram account of the brand often promotes being kinky, practising safe sex, and speaks about the power of communicating pleasure and needs.

Aruna Chawla is only a few steps away from launching the brand that will soon be selling vegan condoms. It will be the first of its kind in the country where intimate products would be sourced from the rubber forests.
Their initiative is to sell the products in recyclable packaging so that sex can be fun without causing any harm to the environment. We can’t wait for their site to be up and running soon.

Started by Sachee Malhotra, That Sassy Thing aims to make women bolder and fiercer by controlling their pleasure and sexual needs. The menstrual wellness brand sells intimate hygiene products and personal massagers.
Their Instagram page shares information about sex, how to spice up your relationship, knowing about pleasure points, etc.
These brands and their owners have started conversations around a topic that even gynaecologists do not talk openly about. We can’t wait to see what more they have in store for us.
