We chatted with Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan, mother to a beautiful daughter Inaaya who is about to turn 2 this year and she shared some pregnancy tips. She said, “It’s very important to be as healthy as possible while pregnant, so don’t do anything that might risk the health of you or your baby. Apart from that just make sure to get the right nutrients, and if possible do some yoga to remain calm and stress-free. Lastly, stay positive and happy as it can be quite a strenuous time.”

“Maintaining a healthy diet begins not just post-pregnancy but from the beginning of the pregnancy itself. Personally, I switched completely to natural foods since I became pregnant and stayed away from anything that contained chemicals. Pre-natal exercise also helps a lot; walking clubbed with simple yoga asanas helped me to maintain pregnancy weight and shed it post-delivery,” she added.

Soha also said, “Remember to eat healthy as the health of the mother is as important as the health of the baby. Personally I stay away from toxins and chemicals; they say what you eat is what shows on your skin, so what you put on your skin you should be able to eat. 1. During this time, your body needs loads of energy. Make sure you eat healthy and nutritious food that is beneficial for both you and your baby. Add more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products to your diet which provide you with all the essential vitamins and minerals.

2. You need to keep yourself hydrated during your pregnancy. Make sure that you drink at least 10 glasses of water every day. Dehydration can lead to tiredness and cramps.

3. Prenatal supplements are usually taken during pregnancy to reduce the risk of birth defects in the baby. These supplements have lots of iron and folic acid which is beneficial for the baby. Do consult your doctor before taking these supplements.

4. Your body goes through a lot of changes during this time. Your body weight and shape changes drastically. Do exercise everyday to maintain your health. You can take up activities like yoga and walking which boost blood circulation in your body.

5. You need to sleep well during pregnancy. Make sure you sleep for at least 8 hours everyday so that your body gets to rest.
