We all know that drinking water is the most essential part of our lives and living being can’t survive without it. But, did you also know there is a right way of drinking water? Sure, we all are doing the activity of drinking water from the time we were born but did it ever occur to you filling the system with this necessary fluid the wrong way can harm your body in the long run. Luckily for us, there are a few rules one must abide by when drinking water. While most of you probably are not aware of it, here we are to enlighten you with the right way to drink water.
Let’s admit it, most of the time all we do is open our refrigerators, take out a bottle of water and drink there while standing. However, this is not what you should be doing. According to a media report, Ayurveda says when you gulp down water while standing, it moves down the colon very quickly. The colon is basically a long, coiled, tube-like organ in the human body that separates water from digested food.
As the water passes down the colon real fast, our body does not get the nutrients of the water. It simply doesn’t get absorbed in the body. Water is extremely essential for the body, and not being able to get its benefit can lead to a host of health issues such as arthritis, kidney damage, and gerd.
Do you drink water in a hurry and tend to gulp down all the fluid in one go? If yes, then you need to stop! Taking slow sips is recommended instead of chugging it all at once. You must be thinking why it is because of a few reasons. The first one is simply not giving time to the system to process water can upset your stomach, second, slow sips keep the digestive system happy and third and the most important one is, the saliva in our mouth is alkaline in nature and water helps by mixing with saliva so it stabilises acid in our stomach and that’s how your digestive system remains healthy.
While basically we tend to drink water whenever thirsty, other than that there a few times in a day when you must drink your fluid. Such as:

And in case you do eat more than your digestive organs can handle, you will disrupt the proper digestion of food particles. According to media reports, Ayurveda says, the stomach should be treated well while creating the right balance, wherein it should be filled with 50 per cent food, 25 per cent water, and the rest should be left for the digestive process.
