Menstruation or periods are a part of a woman's human experience. It is painful but what worsens everything are the myths around it. There are a lot of things about periods we believe just because we heard it from someone, somewhere. Here we are busting some common myths around periods for you.
Washing Your Hair
For some strange reason, this is one of the most common myths around periods. This is one myth that you will get to hear almost all across the world. However, even scientifically, there is no reason behind not washing your hair during periods. So now you can go for a good hair wash even during your periods!
Going To The Gym
Most of us are gym freaks today, but it is a real pain when you aren't able to hit the gym because of our periods. This too because of the myth surrounding women going to the gym doing periods. You can actually go and hit the gym while you are on your periods. If the period pain doesn't let you go for the hard workout, you do otherwise, you can always try out light exercises, which are also believed to help with the cramps!
Excess Blood Loss
Most women feel like they are dropping out liters of blood during their periods and feel it is causing the blood loss in excess. While some women really bleed too much during their periods, most women only bleed around 2 or 3 tablespoons of blood during their periods.
The 28-day Cycle
There is something around periods and the '28-day' cycle. Sadly, there is nothing like a fixed 28-day cycle for every period. While 28 days is considered as an average cycle, the actual period cycle can be somewhere between 21 days and 35 days.
Period Blood Is Dirty
There is a lot that we have been hearing about period blood and its impurity through the years. However, there is nothing dirty about this blood that women bleed every month. It is actually a mix of blood and secretions from the vagina and cervix that women bleed.
