Defeating Cancer
It was in the year 2009, that Lisa Ray was diagnosed with multiple myeloma (a type of blood cancer) and after one year of treatment, she got rid of the disease in 2010. Although it is a rare form of cancer, she did not give up and defeated the disease by getting a stem cell transplant and also by her sheer determination to fight the disease.
After shooting to fame with her appearance in Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s Aafreen song and appearing on the cover of a magazine in a ‘Baywatch’ style bikini, Lisa Ray had been flooded with movie and modelling offers. But Kasoor and Water were the two films that were fondly loved by fans. After recovering from cancer, she had made a comeback in Bollywood in 2015 with 'Ishq Forever'. Lisa also played a vital role in the film Veerappan.
Twinning Motherhood
Last year, Lisa Ray overwhelmed fans by announcing that she has become a mother of twin baby girls. Born via surrogacy, the daughters Sufi and Soleil were nicknamed Souffle by the actress! Announcing the news on social media, Lisa had written that her girls know that the future is female.
In the post, Lisa Ray had also disclosed that it was not so easy for her that husband Jason Dehni had taken the surrogacy route. The couple opted for surrogacy since, being on life-long medication, Lisa could not have children. But she had lamented the fact that commercial surrogacy had been banned in India due to which her daughters were born in Tbilisi, Georgia where the couple had relocated for their birth since the process was legal there.

On Being A Cancer Graduate
Often people's morale breaks down after learning that they have cancer, but Lisa wanted to prove she wasn’t one of them. Proudly calling herself a cancer graduate, Lisa Ray had also sought out to send her support and love to Sonali Bendre who had been diagnosed with the disease. Talking about it, Lisa had said that she now understands the value of time more than before.
Lisa Ray is now a wellness advocate and speaker. She currently features on the web series Four More Shots please which is the story revolving around four urban girls. She stars as a closeted lesbian in her web series debut.
