Winning and losing is a part of the rollercoaster ride that life is. However, when your failures weigh you down breaking your self-esteem, you may have difficulty doing your daily tasks with focus and precision. You may feel like a failure full of distress and demotivation.
To understand this better and find a solution, we spoke to Dr Ashish Bansal MD, Consultant Psychiatrist and co-founder of House of Aesthetics in New Delhi. He suggested a few tips to rebuild your confidence and learn from your downfalls.
How To Stop Feeling Like A Failure
Accept Your Feelings
First and foremost, you must address what happened and accept the situation without judgment. Suppressing your emotions may lead to worse outcomes.
Track The Cause
Try to discover what makes you feel like a failure. Analyse if it is a recent incident, a long-term pattern, or external pressure as understanding the root cause can help you overcome your insecurities more effectively.
Practice Self-compassion
Be as compassionate towards yourself as you would be with a friend or child in a similar situation. Dr Bansal says, “Acknowledge your efforts, even if the outcomes aren't perfect. Remember, everyone makes mistakes and experiences setbacks.”
Reframe Your Thoughts
“Negative self-talk can perpetuate feelings of failure (Quotes On Failure). Challenge these thoughts by reframing them in a more positive light,” recommends Dr Bansal. Instead of saying "I'm a failure," say, "I'm learning and growing from my experiences."

Seek Help
In case of distress, never be afraid to reach out to your friends and family or seek therapy. Dr Bansal says, “Talking about your feelings can provide new perspectives and alleviate the burden of carrying them alone.”
Engage In A Hobby
You can indulge in your favourite hobbies to uplift your mood like exercising, meditating (Benefits Of Meditation), painting, singing, and more. This can help you gain a clearer picture.
Learn From Your Past
Instead of being burdened under the weight of your past mistakes, learn from them for a brighter future. “Reflect on what went wrong, what you can do differently next time, and how this experience can contribute to your personal development,” says Dr Bansal.
Meditation is another option that Dr Bansal recommends for a sound mind and healthy brain. Your past mistakes can help you grow if you take them positively.
