Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of the year. Now that it has come to an end, it is time to clean up! Here we aren’t talking about cleaning up your home after your card and Diwali parties; it is about cleaning your body. Diwali is the time when you celebrate with your friends and family, eat great food and drink like crazy. It is the time when your body is loaded with alcohol, sugar and fried foods. All these things are a part of your Diwali celebrations but you can’t deny the fact that they are unhealthy for you. After Diwali, it is time you clean up your body and flush out all the toxins. Or else, all the harmful ingredients can harm your body negatively and make you sick.

To detoxify your body, you need to make some changes in your everyday habits. These changes will make you healthier. They will improve your overall wellness and make you feel great! This new lifestyle may seem difficult to follow but if you follow it for a few weeks, you will be able to get back to your normal self. Read along to know how to detoxify your body:

1. Begin your day by drinking a glass of warm water. Add half spoon lemon juice in it. You can also add some honey to it for some flavour.

2. For some time you should put an end to your sugar consumption. Avoid eating foods and drinks loaded with sugar like soft drinks, ice creams, chocolates among others.

3. Try consuming more green and leafy vegetables as they are really healthy and give you great energy which is much required during this time after Diwali.

4. Keep yourself hydrated all day. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day. You can prepare detox water by adding cucumber, mint, and lemon in your water.

5. Eat lots of salad. Have carrots, radish, cucumber and tomatoes for salad before eating your meal.

6. Add lots of protein to your food. Your body requires loads of protein. Eggs, cottage cheese, vegetables are great sources of protein.

7. Use a healthy oil for cooking your food. You can pick from olive oil, mustard oil or even desi ghee.

10. Don't forget to workout. Working out will help you burn all those calories that you have gained during this time. If not a hard workout, try going for cardio or functional training.
