Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic demise has shook us all. His death has come as a wake-up call to many. It has made us realise the importance of mental health. Depression is something anyone can go through, it is important to recognise it and accept it. Depression can break you and also make you your own enemy but that's when you need to conquer it. It isn't that easy but it is better to open up about it. It is only you who can take yourself out of the dark phase. Here is how you can deal with depression before it starts gaining control over you.
Call it a gift or simply common sense, I have found that spotting self-inflicted depression is very easy. Depression is not a phase. It is a chronic state. And I always find myself surrounded with people who claim to be depressed. Here are some common signs that tell you are causing yourself depression:

The first step toward helping yourself out of depression is accepting that you are suffering from it. There are too many things in this world that are constantly making life difficult, so, acceptance takes one thing off the plate. It will take time, but it will happen. It is quite normal to feel like not doing anything, so, start small and let them be goals that will let you prioritize yourself.
Cutting and painting your nails, grooming your hair, or even cleaning your room are little things proven to make you feel good about yourself. Also, traveling and meeting people who have something new going on in their lives will motivate you to make changes in your own life. I have also found that music or any other art helps to get through a tough time. The important thing is that you start somewhere and refuse to feel pity, come what may.
