Pay Attention To Your Sleep
As cliché as it sounds, your sleep plays a major role in battling anxiety. Whether you develop insomnia, purposely limit your amount of sleep, or you’re a self-proclaimed night owl, chronic sleep deprivationmakes you prone to anxiety. Do yourself a favour and get an eight to nine hours of sleep. Develop a bedtime routine to read a book or do something relaxing before bed. The better prepared you are to get a good night’s sleep, the better quality of sleep you’ll have, which leads to a better morning.

Don’t Skip Meals
If anxiety causes nausea, the thought of eating food is same as eating dirt. But skipping meals can make anxiety worse. Your blood sugar drops when you don’t eat leading to the release of stress hormones. The fact that you need to eat doesn’t justify that you indulge in sugar and junk food. Incorporate more lean proteins, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats into your diet. Eat five to six small meals throughout the day, and avoid or limit the intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates.
Steer Clear Of Caffeine
A cup of coffee, chocolate or ice-cold coke might help you feel better. But if caffeine is your go-to choice with drinks then your anxiety could worsen. Now, the idea of giving up your caffeinated beverage might raise your heart beat but you do not have to give up caffeine completely. It’s all about moderation. Rather than having 6 cups of coffee a day, drop down to one or two. Give it a test run and see how you feel. As you wean yourself, slowly introduce other beverages into your diet, such as decaffeinated herbal tea which can calm your mind and nerves.
Meditation
One aspect of anxiety is racing thoughts that won’t go away. Meditation helps with this part of the problem by quieting the overactive mind. A wide range of meditation styles including mindfulness and meditation during yogamay help. This involves remaining centered, and if a thought or outside trigger pulls you out of centre, your meditation practice allows you to return there again.
