The power couple recently spilled the beans about their healthy bodies. They were interacting with their fans on the live chat, during which they spoke about their lifestyle, eating, and work out habits. While the fans were amazed to know that they do not swear by any diet, the most intriguing part was the fact that both of them rely on simple herbal tea, which anyone can prepare using simple home ingredients.
“I think all of us are trying to do whatever we can to boost our immunity. We have been having a lot of haldi, haldi in the morning when we wake up, we are having haldi ginger and Kali Mirch ka chai (tea) and we are trying to drink a lot of water - sometimes we forget but we try to drink a lot of water,” said the 31-year-old actress. In order to find out more about this tea, HZ spoke to Dr Pramod Tripathi, a Nutritionist specialising in Diabetic care.
Dr Pramod calls this herbal tea ‘Swasthyavardhak Sarva Shaktiman Kadha’ and gave us the recipe for this special tea.
Ingredients
- 3-4 black peppercorns (kali mirch)
- 3-4 cloves (laung)
- 1 star anise (chakri phool)
- 1/2 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric (haldi)
- 1/4 tsp rock salt (sendha namak)
Steps
- Crush and make powder of all the ingredients together by grinding in a blender.
- For two people, boil in 2 ½ cups of water in a pan for 2-minutes.
- Add 2 teaspoon of the herbal powder and boil for another 5-minutes.
- Lastly, add 1 teaspoon of honey as a sweetener.

“Drink half cup of this tea in morning and evening to keep yourself away from the viruses,” suggested Dr Pramod, who also enlightened us about the many benefits of this tea.
Boost Immunity
According to him, “turmeric, ginger, and black pepper have anti-viral properties. When these are ingested together in the form of a concoction (kadha), they tend to boost immunity. Something that is very important to protect the body from several types of viruses.”
Anti-Viral Properties
Various spices, especially turmeric, ginger, and black pepper have good anti-viral properties. Other than this, Dr Pramod also discussed about the benefits of these ingredient’s anti-viral properties in detail. He told, “The key ingredient in turmeric, known as curcumin is known to have amazing properties to keep viruses away from the body.”

“Black pepper is also known as ‘king of spices’ is described to be endowed with health benefits and disease-preventing properties, including anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antipyretic, immune, and bioavailability enhancing qualities. Whereas, Ginger has been shown to have impressive antiviral activity. All thanks to its high concentration of potent plant compounds,” added Dr Pramod.

Now that you know the benefits and recipe of this wholesome herbal tea, waste no time and start prepping to ingest ‘Swasthyavardhak Sarva Shaktiman Kadha’ that has been found to “inhibit viral replication and prevent viruses from entering host cells,” said Dr Pramod. He also recommended adding star anise in this drink because the shikimic acid found in it is a compound with strong antiviral properties.
