Bacterial infection can cause inflammation of sinuses which leads to sinusitis. Those who have a weak immune system are more likely to develop bacterial or fungal sinus infections. Some people with allergies are also prone to developing an allergic sinus infection. An acute case of sinusitis can last for a period of three weeks to eight weeks and can prove to be very chronic.
Bhavani Pinisetti, Yoga & Pilates Expert, Founder at Laxmana Yoga & Pilates told HerZindagi that "while one should definitely seek medical guidance for a sinusitis diagnosis, some yoga practices can effectively help in providing relief as well as help build better immunity against the condition."
This is the yogic way of cleaning the nasal passage. Pinisetti shared that "it has a huge physiological effect on the mind, body, and also your personality. Physically, irrigation of the nasal mucosa helps in the removal of accumulated mucus from the nostrils, which is associated with sinuses and passages that allows the air to flow without obstructions.
"If you regularly practice Neti, it helps in maintaining healthy secretory and drainage mechanisms of the whole ear, nose and throat area. This helps to ward off coughs and allergic rhinitis. Neti is great for relieving muscular from your face and helps in maintaining that facial youth.
"By practicing neti, you can release that accumulated emotional tension and it is great for treating depression, anxiety, epilepsy, and hysteria. Neti practice helps in balancing the left and right nostrils."
