Migraine or severe headaches are difficult to manage especially when you have many tasks at hand. You cannot tolerate any sound, lights, fragrances, it becomes difficult to eat, there are many such problems one has to face due to this disease. However, there are ways in which you can combat the pain and one of the remedies involves just a warm cup of tea. There are different kinds of tea as not everything suits all. It is the caffeine in the tea that helps but sometimes some roots and spices as well do wonders for those fits of pain. So take a look and stock them in your kitchen cupboard.
While there are several tea types and flavours that are easily available in the market, there are still a few of them that can be easily brewed at home using the roots and spices. Though there is no proven evidence that they are effective, people do feel relieved by some of them which I am listing below.
Green tea
Used for centuries in traditional Chinese and Korean medicines, green tea is said to be very good for reducing tension and inflammation. A cup of this beverage circulates easily in the body hence it is more effective.
Peppermint tea
If you have been suffering from stress and poor diet then peppermint tea is perfect since it eases headaches caused by these issues. What peppermint does is, it opens up the restricted blood vessels in the brain that have been caused by headaches and bring relief.

Ginger tea
Ginger tea is something many people like. It gives a kick and is superb for soothing headaches or reduce nausea that migraine triggers. Just when the pain starts, have this tea and one more cup would be great after an hour as well.
Chamomile tea
This tea is considered best for anxiety and treating insomnia. Many believe that chamomile tea has a relaxing effect on the senses which is indirectly linked to migraines as well.
Feverfew tea
Not many know about this herb called Feverfew but it has a long history of medicinal use. It in fact helps in preventing migraines. It has a substance called parthenolide which helps in reducing inflammation.
Safety Of Drinking Tea
Drink tea but in moderate amounts, as they say, that too much of anything is bad. Many of the teas have caffeine to which some people are very sensitive and become more anxious and it can also trigger a migraine. So it is best that you consult your doctor first as each body reacts in a different way. Women who are pregnant should especially speak to their gynecologist before going ahead with any of these teas.
