One of the most important events of the fashion world is the annual Met Gala. While many people outside the fashion realm think it's a fashion show of sorts, it is not. The Met Gala is a social event which serves as the primary annual fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It is held on the first Monday of May every year. This elite event is graced by an exclusive, invite-only guest list of global celebrities, designers, and cultural icons. Everyone comes together to celebrate and benefit from the fundraiser.

Each year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announces a theme for their exhibition and the dress code in which celebrities have to strut the red carpet in. The theme unveiled by the Metropolitan Museum of Art is ‘Costume Art’. While the theme sounds simple at first, it follows a past loaded with centuries of symbolism, craftsmanship, and the relationship between our society and art. The spring exhibition will focus on Western art from prehistory all the way to what we see around us today. It will feature a lot of ancient silhouettes and nude bodies meeting futuristic forms. This exhibition will be curated by Andrew Bolton and will run from May 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
