In a move that had fashion purists swooning, legendary Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee graced the Met Gala carpet for the very first time in 2024, not just as a behind-the-scenes creative, but as an attendee. Sabyasachi’s ensemble from his Resort 2024 collection featured a beautifully embroidered cotton duster coat, a poetic nod to handwoven craft in the age of fast fashion. The designer picked layers of Sabyasachi High Jewellery, dripping in tourmalines, pearls, emeralds and diamonds, to create a look that was equal parts monk and Maharaja.
