Our expert shared that sabja or basil seeds are a great home remedy for quick relief from constipation. Soak 1 to 2 tbsp of basil seeds in water overnight. By morning, the seeds will expand and have a gel-like texture. Consume soaked basil seeds with water.
Isabgol With Milk Or Water
Psyllium husk, commonly known as isabgol, helps clear the digestive tract and provides relief from constipation. Add a tbsp of isabgol to a glass of warm milk or water and drink up.
Dry Figs With Milk
Figs are rich in fibre. They contain both soluble and insoluble fibre which promotes bowel movements. Soak 2 dry figs in milk overnight and consume the next morning on an empty stomach. (Soaked Figs Benefits)

Triphala And Desi Ghee
A herbal remedy commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine, triphala works wonders for constipation. It works as a mild laxative and helps regulate bowel movements. In a bowl, add 1 tsp of triphala powder and 1 tsp of ghee, mix well, and consume with warm water before sleeping.

Soaked Black Raisins Or Prunes
Due to their high fibre content, soaked black raisins are great for our digestive health. Soak prunes overnight and eat them for a few hours before going to bed.
Tips To Keep Constipation At Bay
- Nutritionist Ekta Sud said, " Add one quarter plate salad with your meals and increase your daily fruit consumption to prevent constipation."
- Move on as much as you can. Indulge in some physical activity every day like walking, yoga, jogging or cycling.
- Add more water to your diet. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day.
- Consume more fibre. Have fruits and vegetables rich in fibre that keep your digestive system healthy. Fruits like apples, bananas, oranges, pears, strawberries, kiwis, and mangoes are rich in fibre. Add carrots, broccoli, beetroot, cauliflower, bitter gourd, and eggplant, beetroot are a good source of fibre and you should add them to your diet to fuel your body with the right amount of fibre.
