Additionally, dry fruits contribute to skin health as they are rich in antioxidants like Vitamin E, commonly found in nuts and seeds. These antioxidants protect the skin from oxidative stress and help improve skin texture, reduce signs of ageing, and promote a youthful glow.”

“Dry fruits can also aid in weight management. Their high fibre content helps in keeping one full for longer, reducing the tendency to snack on unhealthy options. Some dry fruits, like dried cranberries, are rich in calcium and potassium. Raisins, for instance, contain calcium, which supports dental health,” she added. Dr Chakraborty shared, “In terms of weight loss, dry fruits and nuts serve as a healthy snack option, offering essential nutrients without the need for unhealthy junk food.”

Dr Ipshita said that consuming dry fruits on a regular basis can also be good for your bowel health. “Dry fruits like prunes and raisins aid in digestion and improve haemoglobin levels, contributing to better blood formation. For heart health, nuts and dry fruits help maintain cholesterol levels. They support healthy HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and help regulate LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) within normal limits,” she added.

“Additionally, dry fruits like almonds and walnuts have positive effects on mental health. Beta carotene in some dry fruits can help stabilise mood swings, especially during the post-menopausal period. Moreover, dry fruits like figs and raisins may support fertility and improve uterine health, aiding in conception,” shared the expert.
