The ancient city of Dwarka, which is believed to be submerged under the ocean, is reviving thanks to submarine tourism that will let travellers see its various aquatic wonders. The Gujarat government has partnered with Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL) by signing an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to build a submarine capable of reaching depths of up to 100 meters. The submarine will be equipped with advanced technology to ensure safety and comfort, offering panoramic views of the underwater world through portholes and windows. Its goal is to learn about the marine life around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city that is significant to Hindu mythology.

Gujarat To Launch Submarine Tourism

For this Submarine Tourism, the government of Gujarat and Mazgaon Dockyard Limited (MDL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). It would provide unique underwater experiences around Bet Dwarka.

According to the Times of India report, there will be an official announcement about the project during the next Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The summit is scheduled to be held on January 10, 2024. The project is similar to the Titanic submersible expedition, which made headlines recently when one of its vessels catastrophically collapsed in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is anticipated that this project will be operational before Diwali 2024. It will allow tourists to explore the island's aquatic life by going 100 meters below the surface in a submarine. As per a report by India today, each submarine will have two skilled pilots and a qualified crew leading the way, accommodating 24 visitors each. Every passenger will have access to a window view throughout the design of the ship.
