The past 30 days of Ramzan or Ramadan have been tough on those observing fasts amid pandemic coronavirus which has taken over the entire world and brought everything to a standstill. With Eid-al-Fitr falling 2020 falling between Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24, all the Muslims across the globe shall celebrate with a feast prepared with love and with the family gathered around. As an ode to the festival, I would like to share a few pictures of some of the most beautiful mosques in the world.
The Blue Mosque, Istanbul
Called the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, the Blue Mosque is a nickname of one of the most popular tourist attractions in Istanbul! It was built in the 17th century. The mosque's interior has hand-painted blue tiles, with more than 200 stained glass windows and beautifully sculptured marble.
Kul Sharif Mosque, Russia
This mosque in Kazan, Russia is from the 16th century, which was destroyed during an invasion, and then reconstructed in 2005 with a modern twist. It is named after a religious scholar named Kul Sharif, who stayed there. This mosque is one of Europe’s largest mosques.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi
Really majestic and beautiful, this mosque was inspired by Indo-Islamic, Persian, Mughal and Alexandrian influences. Not very old, built just 12 years ago, this mosque has gold plated carvings, pillars adorned with semi-precious stones, intricate decor, and reminds you of the floral work in Taj Mahal. It is the largest mosque in UAE.

Pink Mosque, Iran
Nicknamed Pink Mosque, the Nasir al Mulk mosque, is in Shiraz, one of the oldest Iranian cities. It looks like a typical traditional mosque but when go inside, the entire place is lit up with so much color and eye-pleasing shades when the light falls on the stained glass windows and pink-colored tiles.
Tin Mal Mosque, Morocco
This mosque is on a hill that overlooks the Tin Mal village. Built in the year 1156 to commemorate the founder of the Almohad dynasty, this mosque was later abandoned for many years and restored again in the 1990s. It is now open to all visitors.
Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Brunei
This sure is amongst the most beautiful and magnificent mosques in the world. It is a major tourist attraction in Brunei and built on top of an artificial lagoon. This mosque is an amalgamation of Mughal architecture and Malay influences.
Putra Mosque, Malaysia
This mosque is on a man-made lake, and pink-coloured. Stunning to look at, this mosque was made using rose-coloured granite and interestingly it can accommodate up to 15,000 people.
