If you love the festival of colours then you can't miss experiencing Brij Ki Holi. At the Lord Krishna Janambhoomi, Holi is celebrated with full fervour. Holi celebrated here is not a regular celebration, it takes you back to the traditional customs and folk tales. Back to the time when Lord Krishna first used colours to play the festival with the gopis.
When in Krishna Janambhoomi, you get to experience different traditions, different celebrations in every corner and there is something special about each celebration.
This year, the festival is falling on the 10th of March. However, the festivities in Krishna Janambhoomi start way before. They are starting today and will continue till 12th March. Let's take you to the schedule of Holi 2020 in Barsana, Vrindavan, Nandgoan, and Mathura.
Ladoo Holi In Barsana
It all will begin tomorrow with Ladoo Holi. This where the devotees gather in temples. They throw ladoos at each other and it is then consumed as the prasad of Lord Krishna. Devotees also sing and dance in temples.
Lathmaar Holi In Barsana
This is one experience you shouldn't miss if in Barsana during Holi. This is the day when men from Nandgoan come to Barsana and tease the women. They are then beaten with lathis or sticks. Men then try to shield them. Some men are also made to wear women's clothes and then they dance in public. It will be celebrated on 4th March this year. Lathmaar Holi will then be played in Nandgoan on the 5th of March. The same day it will be celebrated in Rawal Goan. This celebration takes place in the evening.
Cultural Events In Mathura And Vrindavan
This is followed by some cultural events in Mathura, at Lord Krishna's birthplace and also at Vrindavan at the Banke Bihari Temple. This will take place on the 6th of March this year.
Chadimaar Holi
This one will be celebrated on 7th March in Gokul. This is similar to the lathmaar holi.

Holi Ka Dola
On 9th March 2020, you get to experience another amazing celebration called Holi Ka Dola. It is celebrated in the Dwarkadhish Temple in Mathura.
On 10th March, in the same temple, Holi is played with flowers and gulaal.
Dauji Ka Huranga
Lord Krishna's elder brother is also known as Dauji in Mathura. There is a town called Baldeo where these Holi celebrations take place. People gather in huge numbers at the Baldauji temple. This year, it will take place on 11th March 2020.

On the same day, there will be dance performances in village Mukhrai, Jab Ka Huranga in Nandgoan. On 12th March 2020, baithan, Gidoh Ka Huranga will take place.
Reaching Mathura is really easy via road or rail. Mathura is well connected by air as well. You can reach Mathura taking bus services from Delhi, Agra or Merrut.
Do keep in mind that temples in Mathura, Vrindavan, and Barsana get closed at 11:30 in the morning. The next darshan opens at 4 pm.
