Randeep Hooda who was recently seen in the biographical film on the life of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar,’ has been doing promotions for the film. In a media interaction, he was asked about his opinion on Kangana Ranaut calling his Highway co-actor Alia Bhatt “mediocre” back in 2019. Hooda came forward in Alia’s defence expressing his admiration for Alia's willingness to explore new roles and genres.
While chatting with Siddharth Kannan, Hooda reflected on his time working with Alia during the shoots of the Imtiaz Ali directorial ‘Highway’ and said that he supported her and believes that she was unnecessarily and unfairly targetted when Kannan asked him about his response to Kangana Ranaut criticising Bhatt.
Randeep Hooda even posted on X, formerly known as Twitter and wrote, “Dearest @aliaa08 I’m so glad you are not letting the opinions of very occasional actors and chronic victims affect you and your work .. kudos to you for your continued efforts to outdo yourself 🤗”

During his chat, he also said, “While making Highway, I developed a spiritual bond with Alia (Alia Bhatt-Inspired Sleeveless Blouse Designs). I don’t know if it’s the same for her. That’s up to her. I can only speak for myself. I have seen that she has always tried to do new things. I stood up for her genuinely because she was unfairly targeted.”
“To target your fellow actors or your colleagues or your fraternity over things that you feel you did not get, even though I think you did got a lot from this industry, it’s just unbecoming. I felt that I should do it and I did it,” he added.
